Axis expands its network audio offering for smart background music and public address systems

Axis Communications, the global leader in network video, today announced the addition of AXIS C8033 Network Audio Bridge which allows integration between analog and network audio systems and allows users to benefit from a network based system, while keeping current analog hardware. Axis also announced the 2N® SIP Mic which is a compatible network microphone console that can become a complete public address system when paired together with Axis network speakers. “Axis has been the industry leader in the transition from analog to IP in the video surveillance market making systems smart, scalable, and secure. It is possible to combine these new products with Axis network speakers into one system, (no central electronic equipment needed). Axis network audio systems are based on open standards, making them easy to integrate with other systems. Many legacy systems use analog speakers that are not compatible with digital speaker systems or digital audio sources. AXIS C8033 Network Audio Bridge make it is possible to play music from an analog line level source like a mobile, tablet or a professional streaming box through Axis network speakers, or a connected digital audio source such as, AXIS Audio Player. The 2N® SIP Mic is a compatible network microphone console from 2N, an Axis company, for use in public address systems. This smart network microphone console offers 12 configurable buttons and allows for flexible paging in multiple zones, to make live announcements and play pre-recorded messages. With the new 2N SIP Mic, Axis network speakers can be turned into complete public address systems that are ideal for the education market. By using the network audio bridge to connect existing analog devices with Axis network audio systems, it becomes easy and cost-effective for the customer to benefit from all that the digital system offers. Network audio also means that the system is easy to scale and is flexible enough to meet the customers’ changing demands. AXIS C8033 Network Audio Bridge and 2N® SIP Mic will be available through Axis’ standard distribution channels in September 2017 with the suggested retail price of $899 and $199 respectively.

Apple TV 4K to get Dolby Atmos audio in future tvOS update

Apple, while launching its Apple TV 4K earlier this month along with the new iPhone handsets, did not say anything if the streaming device will come with Dolby Atmos surround sound tech out of the box or not. However, according to The Verge, the streaming box will be getting the audio upgrade in future as a part of the tvOS update.“Apple also doesn’t support modern surround sound standards like Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, which place sound effects in 3D space around you,” said The Verge’s Nilay Patel in his Apple TV 4K review. “Apple told me that the lack of Atmos isn’t a hardware limitation, and that support is on the roadmap,” he added. It is not clear as to when Apple plans to bring this support to its 4K TV streaming box. Apple TV 4K starts at $179 for 32GB variant and $199 for the 64GB variant in the US. Apple TV is the company’s video-streaming box and Apple TV 4K is an upgrade over the previous generation of the device. As the name suggests, Apple TV 4K shows videos in 4K resolution. It comes with 4K HDR 10 support along with Dolby vision. The Cupertino-based tech firm has also tweaked the Apple TV user interface. The upgraded streaming box comes with CPU with performance twice as fast and graphics four times faster. Powered by Apple A10X processor, the Apple TV 4K is priced at Rs 15,900 for 32GB and Rs 17,900 for the 64GB variant. The Apple TV (4th generation) 32GB variant now costs Rs 12,900. The device will be available for pre-order in the US, starting September 15. It will be made available starting September 22 in select markets. Apple says it is working with 20th Century Fox, Lionsgate and other production houses to bring new content to iTunes. Users can purchase movies from select production houses on iTunes and Apple will make it 4K HDR compatible free of cost for the new Apple TV users. Amazon Prime will also be bringing its 4K HDR content for the new streaming box later this year.

Asus Zenbook UX430 lineup launch date confirmed

Asus has sent out invites for the launch of its upcoming premium lineup of laptops in India. The company has sent out media invites, which reads “beyond the edge”, for the launch to be held on September 27. Incidently, two of the laptop’s models namely UX430UA and UX430UQ were listed online this week at Rs 74,990 and Rs 93,990. The Asus ZenBook UX430UA and the the Asus UX430UQ share almost the same specifications but the latter comes with an extra graphic card. It has the Nvidia 940MX GPU graphic card onboard that comes in addition to the integrated Intel HD GPU. The laptops sport a 14-inch full HD (1080×1920 pixels) NanoEdge display and according to the listing the devices have an 80% screen-to-body ratio. The company says that the canvas is 13-inch but the display it includes is of 14-inches. Both laptops come in Royal Blue, Rose Gold, Quartz Grey and Shimmer Gold colour variants. Users will get the option to choose from three different processors + RAM customisations – Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7. All three run on Intel 7th-gen ‘Kaby Lake’ processor along with an integrated Intel HD Graphics 620. It can be customised with 4GB, 8GB or 16GB DDR4 RAM and 128GB, 256GB or 512GB SSD storage drive. The devices will also be available with Windows 10 Home or Pro versions. The laptop includes a Type-C USB 3.1 Gen.1 port, Type-A USB 3.1 port, USB 2.0 port, Micro HDMI and a SD card reader. It also has a full-sized backlit keyboard with Glass-covered touchpad and a fingerprint sensor at it’s top right corner. In addition, the laptop features dual 1.5W speakers with ASUS SonicMaster stereo audio system. There is a HD webcam onboard as well.

Nokia 8 smartphone likely to launch in India on September 26

It seems that HMD-Global is all set to launch its latest flagship smartphone Nokia 8 in India. Industry insiders told GadgetsNow, that the company is planning to launch the smartphone either on September 26 or September 27. The company will also start sending the official media invites shortly. To recall, company launched the Nokia 8 globally in August this year. The smartphone features a 5.3-inch QHD display with 1440×2560 pixels resolution. The display is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The smartphone runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system and is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor. The smartphone offers 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB by adding a microSD card. The Nokia 8 comes with dual rear camera setup powered by 13MP sensors each. The camera lens comes from Carl Zeiss. While the first lens shoots coloured shots with OIS, the secondary rear camera shoots in monochrome. The primary camera has an aperture of f/2.0 along with PDAF and dual-tone flash. Nokia 8 is also the company’s first to come with Nokia OZO audio, which is a 360-degree audio technology for better multimedia experience. The cameras can also capture videos in 4K resolution. At the front, there is a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and display flash. One of the most highlighted features of the device is ‘Bothie’ or Dual-Sight mode, which makes use of both front and rear cameras to show both angles on the screen. People can use this feature to live stream on YouTube and Facebook Live as well. Measuring 151.5×73.7×7.9mm, the smartphone is backed by a 3090mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge support. In terms of connectivity it offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and NFC.

Moto X4 Android One phone with dual cameras to launch in India soon

Motorola India on Wednesday teases to launch a dual camera phone in India in the forthcoming days. Although the company didn’t exactly confirm the name of the smartphone they will announce in India, but chances are that it is going to be the Moto X4. The smartphone was initially launched at the IFA 2017 event which happened in Berlin last month. The company confirmed that the phone that is set to launch in India will come with dual cameras. It could either be the base variant of the Moto X4, or could be the Android One edition of the Moto X4. A popular tipster – Evan Blass last week hinted that Motorola is currently working on the Android One edition of the Moto X4. This will be the first Moto phone with Android One. Blass also leaked an image of the Moto X4 with Android One branding. The Moto X4 Android One phone is said to be the same as the original Moto X4 in terms of specs and design. The only difference will be that the Android One edition of the Moto X4 will offer a pure Android experience. The price of the Android One edition will differ a bit from the original Moto X4. Going by some reports that Motorola and Google were in works to bring an Android One phone for a long time now. Reports further hint that the Android One Motorola device will come with a price tag between — $200 and $300, which roughly translates to Rs 12,700 – Rs 19,000. Originally, Moto X4 bridges the gap between the premium and the budget phones. The smartphone is an upper-tier mid-range and will retail at 399 Euros, which translates to Rs 30,000 approx. Moto X4 Android One phone will be a budget device. There are no specific details if Motorola will call the upcoming Android One powered phone Moto X4. Chances are that they may name the phone something else. Apart from the addition of the Android One program, and the change in the name – the phone will be same in terms of the specs will be the same as the original phone. In terms of specs, Moto X4 comes with a 5.2-inch display with 1080p resolution and boasts a metal and glass design. The display is further protected with a Gorilla Glass 4 layer on top. Moto X4 comes with an IP68 certification, which means that the new Moto X phone is water and dust resistant. On the camera front, the Moto X4 comes with two cameras at the back – one with 12-megapixel sensor – which is the primary camera, while the secondary camera comes with an 8-megapixel sensor which focuses on capturing wide-angle shots mainly. The smartphone is powered by Snapdragon 630 processor coupled with 3 gigs of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which is expandable via a microSD card. The smartphone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery which as claimed by Motorola delivers a power backup for one single day. It also comes along with a 15-watt TurboPower charger which in 15 minutes of charge provides enough battery like for the phone to last for almost 6 hours. Another key feature of the Moto X4 is the Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant. With Amazon Alexa, Moto X4 can be used in hand-free mode. Motorola, at the IFA launch event said that the new Moto X4 will respond to Alexa even when the device is locked. Moto X4 also includes Google Assistant, which is built into Android. At IFA 2017, Motorola also confirmed that Alexa integration will come with all the other Motorola phones that will be announced in the days to come.

Huawei Launches ‘Huawei Envision’ Video Solution for MSO

Huawei launched its Envision video solution for MSO(Multiple System Operator) to enhance hybrid video service capabilities and implement all-IP transformation of video services.

Xiaomi Mi Band launched the HRX Edition in India

Xiaomi has launched a new variant of its fitness band in India. Called Xiaomi Mi band – HRX Edition, the company has partnered with Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan’s firm (HRX) for the device. Xiaomi Mi band – HRX Edition has an MRP of Rs 1,799, however, the device is available at Rs 1,299. The band is said to come with improved fitness tracking algorithm, which the company claims offers more accurate monitoring of the wearer’s activities. The Mi band – HRX Edition is also said to offer an improved battery life. Xiaomi says that the device has 70mAh battery that is rated to deliver 23 days of life, a 10% update over the regular version’s 20 days. Mi band HRX Edition does not include Heart Rate sensor, which we is there in the company’s Mi Band 2. The IP67-splash resistant device sports a scratch-resistant touch screen with 0.42-inch OLED display and support for Bluetooth v4.0. The Xiaomi Mi Band HRX Edition is compatible with Android 4.4, iOS 7.0 and above. Available in Black and Blue colour variants, the device measures 15.7×10.5×40.3mm and weighs 70 gram. The launch of the Xiaomi Mi Band HRX Edition comes few days after the launch of the company’s first-ever Android One smartphone, the Mi A1. Xiaomi Mi A1 smartphone is priced at Rs 14,999. The smartphone runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat and comes with pure Android UI onboard. Sporting a 5.5-inch full HD (1080×1920 pixels) resolution display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass, the Xiaomi Mi A1 features a full-metal body with rounded edges. Under the hood, there is a mid-range octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, clubbed with 4GB RAM and Adreno 506 GPU. The dual-rear camera of the smartphone consists of a 12MP wide angle and a 12MP telephoto lens for an improved bokeh effect in portrait shots. At the front, the smartphone has a 5MP camera. It is backed by a 3080mAh battery and has a fingerprint sensor at the back.

Google Tez will store your Aadhaar details for transactions

Google has just launched its Tez UPI-based mobile payments app in India. However, it looks like that the app may face heat from online privacy advocates. As going through the terms and conditions page of Google Tez reveals that all those users who are (or will be) doing any transactions using the app, will have to share their Aadhaar details as well bank account details with Google. Since Aadhaar card also has details like name, age, contact number, address, email ID and parent’s name this means that the users will have to share these too. “You hereby expressly consent to and permit Google, Group Companies and the Payment Participants’ to collect, store and share such information including but not limited to the your personal information such as your name, address, Google Account or Payment instrument details, all transactions carried out through Tez or information with respect to third parties and the Recipients including bank account or Aadhaar details for the purposes mentioned in the Combined Tez Terms,” says the terms and conditions page of the Google Tez app. “In the event that you are a Recipient, you hereby consent Google to permit the Sender to store your information including bank account number and Aadhaar number on Tez for the purpose of sending you payments,” adds the page. However, some details can be preserved if the user pays through the Cash Mode in the app. The mode enables the users to instantly send and receive money to anyone nearby using Tez app without the need to share details like bank account or phone number. Users can also scan QR code to send money. The Google Tez app is launched for both Android and iOS platforms. The search giant has tied up with all major banks such as SBI, HDFC, Axis and ICICI for the app. The company has also partnered with Micromax, Panasonic, Lava and Nokia for the distribution of the app.

Dell launches its VR-ready Precision 5720 PC in India

Dell has launched a new AiO PC in India, called the Precision 5720. The PC comes with a starting price of Rs 1,09,000 and is already available on the company’s India website. The highlight of the PC is it’s VR-ready and comes equipped with AMD Radeon Pro graphics (WX 7100 or WX 4150) for faster rendering. The company claims that the Precision 5720 is the only AiO to feature such graphics. The Dell Precision All-in-One 5720 is aimed for heavy users in Manufacturing, Media and Entertainment, Architecture and Design, Health segment. It has a 27-inch ‘UltraSharp’ 4K display (available in Touch and Non-Touch options). The device packs Intel Kaby Lake and Sky Lake processors (Core i5, i7, Xeon E3-1200 v6) with 8GB RAM under the hood. Running Windows 10 OS, the Dell Precision 5720 AiO supports USB Type A, Thunderbolt 3, Gigabit Ethernet, Audio out and HDMI out port. There are also ten front and down firing speakers. Asus Zenfone 4 series smartphones to launch in India today

Asus is all set to launch its next generation of Zenfone smartphones in India. The company has sent out media invites for the launch event scheduled to take place in Delhi today at 1PM.
Last month, the company launched all the smartphones in the Zenfone 4 series at an event in Taiwan. The Asus Zenfone 4 series consists of ZenFone 4 Pro , ZenFone 4 , ZenFone Selfie Pro, ZenFone 4 Selfie and the ZenFone 4 Max.

The Asus Zenfone 4 Pro features a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display and runs Android 7.1.1 (Nougat) operating system. It is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 GPU. The device offers 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 2TB via microSD card. It sports a dual-rear camera setup with one 12MP and other 16MP module. There’s also an 8MP front facing camera.

The device runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system topped with the company’s own Zen UI and sports a 5.5-inch full HD Super IPS+ display. It is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor paired with 6GB/4GB of RAM. It offers 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 1TB by using a microSD card. The hybrid dual SIM smartphone also features a dual-rear camera with one 12MP and other 8MP modules and an 8MP front shooter.
